Let's Go Fly a Kite...

This was a couple weeks ago...
(I was going to post everything in one blog, but it would be a little long, so will post little ones every now and then!)

It was a SUPER windy day, perfect for kite flying, right? HA!!!!!! I took the kids and their cheap dollar kites down to Raccoon River, aka to them, the beach. I got them all out and got Gavin's kite and up and he was hanging on to it...

Or so I THOUGHT!!! I then turned around to get Kotah's going and the next thing I know, he is yelling, MOM, GO GET MY KITE!!!!!! It was flying half way across the parking lot into a field. There is NO way I can catch up to this thing, so I said, no way bud! SORRY! Then the wind died down enough I figured, maybe I could get it. It also seemed to be stuck in the grass. I tell the kids to stay right there and DO NOT MOVE, I run across the parking lot and see 2 ladies get out of a car with their 2 dogs. So I get the kite, and am starting to go back and see Gavin coming across the parking lot. I also see a HUGE cement truck and pick up truck coming in parking lot. I am starting to run and yell at Gavin, flinging my arms trying to get him to stop or turn around, anything but keep coming! The wind is WAAAAY to windy for him to hear me, he just sees my arms flying! I wasn't sure if the pickup truck dudes could see my little man, so here I am, kite in my hands, just flying above my head, and running and yelling after Gavin! (I am sure I was quite the sight! :O)) All of a sudden, i get pulled back, hmm, kite got stuck in the tree. GREAT, now what am I going to do? So I am holding onto the kite string and Gavin. I am like, how am I going to get this out? Do I let it? No way! I got this far, why not? It's not that big of a tree, I should be able to get up there and pull it down, right? HA! I get my leg up over a limb, then I look over to the field where the ladies are with their dogs and what do I see? A video camera, pointed kinda at me! I am thinking, if they are taping this....

(I had to JUMP to get up to the 1st branch and work my way out there to get the string, as far as I know, it is STILL there! :O) I should've had Kotah take a pic of me in the tree! That would've been FUNNY!!!!!)

So I FINALLY manage (after making a fool of myself) to get the string and I pull it and it gets stuck and breaks off. Good news, I have the kite, just not the string! I tell my little man, I am sorry, but I can't get the rest of the string and we head back over to the girls. We fly his kite about 2 feet in the air, then have to toss it, it got ripped to bad! No way to save that Dollar Store kite! :OP We fly Kotah's kite for another 15 minutes, then head home! All in all, it was fun, but I would have LOVED to be one of those people watching me trying to save that STUPID kite! I mean, come on, it was a DOLLAR!!!!!!!!

Kotah flying her kite and hanging on for dear life! :O)
Gavin and Skylar running after Kotah's kite! Flying the kite off the van! Kotah's string got stuck on the van! :O) Atleast we know it isn't going anywhere!

This is what looks like EVERY time there is wind in her face! Just like a puppy, out comes the tongue! :O)

Cancelled

What a busy crazy day! Curt left right away this morning around 7 to get his blood taken.  He got back and then Audrey got here.  We played and picked up for a bit then left to go to the Health Department to get our TB test done.  We got there around 10ish and they told us we needed to make an appointment.  So we waited for a bit to make an appointment.  Thankfully they had an opening for today yet.  They only do these tests on Friday, so we really didn't want to have to wait until next Friday if at all possible.  Got an appointment for 1:15 and 1:30.  I was thinking ugh, either no nap and very little nap, but I didn't care!  ;) Got home, cleaned up a bit more, got the kiddos some lunch, then we turned around and left to go back to the Health Department.  (I did NOT see the water guy! ;)) Got back there, got asked some questions, wanted to know why I need the test...  I said adoption.  They saw all the other 5 kids and as...

Run-Aways

Wow, this has seriously been an eventful week! Starting off with the whole fabric softener mis-hap, which you can read on here if you didn't see or hear about it! Then Curt left Monday nite, Tuesday, well, it was ok, we had mom's group and the kids were acting up a bit, but nothing too bad... Then Wednesday I had a meeting at the church... It started out ok, the meeting wasn't long at all! Gavin came into the room and said he wanted to go play outside on the playground. I told him no, because I couldn't see him. I said, what if someone came by and picked you up and grabbed you and took you somewhere? Mommy would never see you again and I would be soooo sad! I said, I can't see you, so you need to stay inside. Well, not more than 3 minutes passed and Kotah comes up to me and says, uh, mom, Gavin is trying to go outside. So, I get up, go over to him and talk. I asked him what is he doing? he says, I WANT to play OUTSIDE! I said, bubby, I can't see you, so you can...

Update on Dad...

Mom called a little while ago. Dad will be admitted, they aren't sure yet what caused the pain. He had fever, but it now is broken. He is also a little jaundice, so that is why they were/are thinking that his stent moved... They had to poke him 3 different times to try and get an IV in, his veins were so tight because he was in so much pain, he was tensing up. They took some blood from both arms and are still waiting on the results of that. They also did a chest x-ray. So still waiting, but atleast he isn't in any pain. The gave him a shot of morphine to take care of the pain, and it finally worked.
